Vegan Valentine's Day Fondue

I’m a proponent of the idea that you should have a little romance every day. But if you still want to make February 14th a bit more special than the rest, I think that this cheesy, vegan, fondue-for-two might help accomplish that.

When it comes to food, there aren't too many things better than dips, and a selection of food for dipping. The fact that in one meal there can be 5, or even 10 different flavour combinations on the table is exciting for me. Sharing that experience with someone that you love makes it extra special. So pour some wine, turn on some music, and enjoy this dish together.

Makes 1½ cups

How it's made

¾ cup white wine


Place in a small pot and bring to boil over medium heat. Once boiled, cook for another 5 minutes.

¾ cup nutritional yeast

¾ cup unsweetened almond milk

½ cup vegetable broth

1 tbsp miso

1 garlic clove, minced

1½  tbsp yellow mustard

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp pepper


6 tbsp water


In a small bowl, mix water and flour until all lumps disappear. Add to the pot with the other ingredients and cook for another 3 - 4 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

Helpful tips

As with any fondue, it tastes best while warm. I’d recommend serving it with bread bites, your favourite vegan sausage (mine is Spicy Seitan Sausages), cauliflower, mushrooms and carrots. In the unexpected event there are leftovers, the fondue can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days, and eaten reheated or cold with your preferred fixings.
